Dhoni told why he chose number 7
The former captain of the Indian team told that he is seen wearing the number 7 jersey, not because of any superstition, but because of the date of his birthday. He said, 'A lot of people initially thought that 7 was a lucky number for me and for all that I wear the number 7 jersey, but I chose the number for a very simple reason. I was born on 7th July. It is the 7th day of the 7th month, that was the reason.
Regarding his selection of number 7, Mahendra Singh Dhoni says, 'Instead of knowing about all the different things that which number is a good number and after going through all the information I thought that I can give my date of birth. I will use that as a number.
Dhoni further said, 'A lot of people said that 7 is a neutral number and even if it doesn't work for you, it doesn't really go against you.'
