OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G Review: After the budget segment in India, the mid segment is quite popular. Under the OnePlus Nord series, the company launches mid-range smartphones. Does Nord CE 2 5G live up to the expectations of OnePlus fans? We have tried to know in this review.
- HDR 10+ support in OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G
- How does this new Nord perform in overall use?
OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G has become available in India. OnePlus launches mid-range smartphones under the Nord series. This time, however, the company has made a slight strategy change. You will know all this in the review.
The design of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G seems to be inspired by the Oppo Find X3 Pro. OnePlus's previous Nord series smartphones looked completely different and it looks quite different from them.

The rear panel of OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G is made of plastic. Overall, this OnePlus phone does not look like OnePlus at least looking back. Although it also depends on your preference.
The build quality is good, solid and the blue color looks great. Although it is a fingerprint magnet that means fingerprints attract more.
Despite having a plastic back, this phone looks premium, especially if you talk about this price segment. You get standard features like SIM tray, headphone jack, volume rocker keys.
Talking about the display of OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G, you get a 6.43-inch AMOLED display in it. Here you also get support of 90Hz and HDR 10+ is also there.
The display is bright and colors look very good and accurate. The viewing angle is good and the best part is that its screen performs well even in the outdoors. Scrolling is also fast due to the high refresh rate, but 90Hz may now seem less to people according to this segment.
Overall, its display segment is not the best, but it is quite good. OTT content especially with HDR10+ support is quite visible on it and we have had a great experience with it even while gaming.

MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chipset has been given in OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G. It has 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Micro SD card slot is also given here.
Android 11 based Oxygen OS 11.3 has been given in OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G. Although it will get an update of Android 12. According to the company, this phone will get software updates for 2 years and security updates for three years.
Oxygen OS is great as always. Lots of customization options are given here. The in-display fingerprint scanner also works well and is quick.
This is not a gaming phone, but still you can do gaming comfortably in it. Can also play big games like Call of Duty Mobile or Asphalt. Overall gaming experience has been average.
MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset has been given in this smartphone, which was given in some smartphones even before this. The same chipset has also been given in Oppo Reno 7. The phone generally does not hang and you will get a smooth experience.
A 64-megapixel primary camera has been given in OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G. Apart from this, there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro lens has been given. For selfie, it has a 16-megapixel front camera.
Even though OxygenOS is given in this smartphone, you will definitely notice changes in the camera app. It now feels more like Oppo's camera interface.
However, if we talk about camera quality, then you can click good pictures with this phone. Generally, other smartphones in this segment do quite well in outdoor photography, especially when the sunlight is enough.
The primary camera of this phone also clicks great pictures. You will also find enough details in it, although the macro lens is mediocre and you cannot expect good pictures from here.
The ultra wide lens of this phone covers the right area. But you will not be able to click good pictures with the ultra wide lens, here you will feel the lack of a lot of details in the photos.
Talking about Nord 2 CE compared to Nord 2, I found its camera performance a bit dull. The pictures clicked are sharp, but this sharpness is not natural, it looks artificial.
Talking about colors, there is no problem of over saturated photos. Accurate colors come, but there is a slight problem with the highlights here too. The camera of this phone also struggles a bit in handling the shadows.
Night mode option has been given which is good. However, clicking pictures in low light on the normal mode, the result looks heavy and full of grains, which is not good. Many features have been given in the camera app of the phone. Selfie camera is also fine and it gives average experience of video calling.
OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G has a 4,500mAh battery. With this there is 65W fast charge support. The good thing is that SuperVOOC 65W charger has been given in the box.
It takes about half an hour for full charge. You can run this phone for hours by charging 10 minutes. Talking about backup, this phone runs smoothly throughout the day in moderate to moderate usage.
If you use the phone less, then you will be able to run it for 1.5 to 2 days. We can consider this as a good backup. Although battery backup these days largely depends on the apps as well.
